Buttery Cream Cheese Spritz Cookies

A COOKIE PRESS Is recommended (shown). These cookies can also be rolled.

3/4 Cup White sugar
3/4 Cup Butter, room temperature
1/4 Cup Cream Cheese, room temperature 
Cream these together in a large bowl, or mixer bowl


Add to this mixture:
2 egg yolks
1 tablespoon vanilla extract or imitation vanilla
1 teaspoon peppermint extract (optional)
Food coloring (optional - to desired color)

Mix together until well incorporated

In a separate large bowl, add, and mix well to incorporate:
2-1/4 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

 Add flour mixture to butter mixture about a cup at a time until well blended. Let rest in refrigerator for about 1 hour.

 Add dough to cookie press. Follow instructions that came with your press. If you don’t have a press, this recipe can be rolled into balls or cut with cookie cutters. Just let chill for about 4 hours beforehand, if you are not using a press.

 Preheat oven to 350°

Press cookies onto ungreased cookie sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes. Before baking, decorate with sprinkles or tiny candies. These cookies should be taken out of the oven when they are just getting slightly brown on the edges. Don’t overbake.

This recipe will make 5 dozen cookies depending on how large you press them.
