1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup chopped nuts (your choice)

1/2 cup chopped dates

Mix dry ingredients together, then add the nuts and dates, set aside.

In another bowl add blend until fluffy and well incorporated:
1 cup white or brown sugar (I use half of each)
2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla

Add dry ingredients to sugar mixture, blend until all dry ingredients are incorporated but do not overmix.

Place in greased 8 x 8 casserole dish

Bake at 350° for 30-40 minutes until golden brown. Don't overbake (just like brownies these will continue to bake after removed from oven, so it should be slightly soft in the middle.
